(It may be relevant that my 1/2m Isis has WBT Silver RCA plugs instead of AN).Īll of this is just one person’s preferences of course but sometimes hearing a different point of view can be helpful to others. I have tried Vx and Sogon for the SUT outputs but for whatever reason I like Isis better in that spot. I also prefer Isis for my 1/2m cables between SUT and phono preamp. For the main speaker cable (amps to speakers), SPx delivers the detail and full-range extension that I want.įor interconnects, I like one Sogon between source and preamp but copper (either Isis or a DIY cable) for my longer 4m run to the power amps. I tried SPx for the midrange as well but I preferred the warmth and weight of Lexus. I use Lexus for the woofer and midrange horn and SPx for the HF horn. I do like copper for the internal wiring of my (not AN) speakers though. I do like the warmth and LF weight of the Isis but both of the copper cables just give up too much detail compared to SPx at least in my system. For speaker cables I have Lexus, Isis and SPx available. However, unlike I always come back to silver speaker cables and use copper in some other spots. Well, I haven’t actually tried ALL silver but what I have tried leads me to conclude a combination can bring out the best of each. Like i have found a combination of silver and copper to sound the best. Seems that thoughtfully combining silver and copper in the right places can produce some results that can't be done with all copper or all silver.Ĭlick to expand.Very interesting. But I am really really liking the sound of this system as it stands now. I am sure there will be opinions that I am holding back the system by not having E SPe or SPx signatures. I like to think I am getting my cake and eating it too. It is a very well balanced sound that I happen to really like a lot. I've found that the system is capable of amazing detail retrieval but also produces a lot of weight, especially to the bottom end and also produces really warm tones that the copper does so well.

But from the speaker outputs to the external crossovers to the drivers is all Lx. I even wired the phono input from my preamp to the phono board with Sogon. So I have quite a bit of silver all the way to the speaker outputs of the amps. The transformers in my amps and preamp are UHiB with copper primaries and silver secondaries. Tonearm to step up (S8), step up to preamp, preamp to amps, and I even wired the inside of my amps with Sogon. But what I did do with my system with regard to synergy is to use silver (Sogon) for all signal cables. I would not know that personally as I don't have a system that is overflowing with silver from one end to the other. I've heard people say that there is a such thing as "too much silver". I have heard this difference many times comparing copper wired and silver wired speakers within the same system. That even goes for silver that matches copper strand for strand. Copper seems to provide more weight to the music and more vivid tone compared to silver. It seems that silver does in fact impart a quality that enhances detail retrieval better than copper. I don't have the original packaging and I will not ship - so collection only.I have also heard a number of people over the years say that very thing too regarding Lx vs Spe. UK sale only, payment via Bank transfer, sell for £1495. Please note the left speaker wood appears faded in the image with speaker grills on - they are not faded - this is caused by overexposure by my phones camera. Speaker terminals accept banana plugs, spades or bare wire. The original horn-loaded tweeters were replaced by vastly superior ScanSpeak Classic tweeters in 2013, by speaker experts Wilmslow Audio in Leics and all passive components, wiring and cross-overs including the high quality polypropylene capacitors were checked. The original supports have been modified to comprise allen-key tightened, MDF circular discs with rubber feet. Hand-built by Jens Posselt in Denmark, all solid wood - no veneers, sold new by Nottingham Analogue Studio in Nottingham in 1999. Very rarely seen for sale and in this finish and condition. With my system seldom used, I've made the decision to downsize.
